I was born in Bulgaria from Turkish ancestors on December 31, 1973. I've been graduated from “Ankara Anadolu Lisesi” in 1991 and from “Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine” in 2000. I started my PhD study in “Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Anatomy” in 2002 and held my PhD degree in 2005, with my dissertation study on the morphometry and variations of the human auricle. Immediately after getting my PhD degree, I have been appointed as an instructor of anatomy in the Hacettepe University. I completed my military service in 2006, and returned back to my university. I've been in the University of Hawaii School of Medicine as a visiting professor, and appointed as adjunct assistant professor since 2008. In 2010 I have been appointed as assistant professor in the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Department of Anatomy, and promoted to associate professor in 2012. In 2013, I've been transferred to the TOBB University of Economics and Technology Faculty of Medicine as a founding faculty member, where I've been the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine between 2013-2017. I organized countless cadaveric workshops on clinicaI and surgical anatomy. I have more than 50 national and international presentations in scientific meetings and 30 international publications in medical journals. I started a new medical journal in 2008 titled "International Journal of Anatomical Variations", and served as the Editor-in-Chief and publisher until the transfer of the journal to a British Group in 2017. I am a member of the American Association of Clinical Anatomists, International Society for Plastination and Turkish Society of Anatomy and Clinical Anatomy. Between 2014-2018, I've been the Secretary of the International Society for Plastination. Finally, I've been the Dean of the TOBB ETU Faculty of Medicine between 2019-2020. I am interested in plastination, anatomical variations, cross-sectional & clinical anatomy. I speak English and French fluently. I am interested in Turkish music and literature, playing some traditional Turkish musical instruments. I am married with Derya Erdogmus Tunali, our lovely son Cagan was born in 2009.
