I was born in Bulgaria at December 31, 1973. I was graduated from “Ankara Anadolu Lisesi” in 1991 and from “Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine” in 2000. I started my doctorate in “Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Anatomy” in February 2002 and held my PhD degree in April 2005, with my dissertation study on the morphometry and variations of the human auricle. Immediately after getting my PhD degree, I have been appointed as an instructor of anatomy in the Hacettepe University. I completed my military service in October 2006, and returned back to my university. I've been in the University of Hawaii School of Medicine as a visiting professor, and appointed as adjunct assistant professor since 2008. In 2010 I have been appointed as assistant professor in the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Department of Anatomy, and promoted to associate professor in 2012. In April 2013, I've been transferred to the TOBB University of Economics and Technology Faculty of Medicine as a founding faculty member, where I've been appointed as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine on June 3rd, 2013. I have more than 50 national and international presentations in scientific meetings and 18 international publications in medical journals. I started a new medical journal in 2008 titled "International Journal of Anatomical Variations", currently I serve as the Editor-in-Chief and publisher of the same. Additionally, I am the Managing Editor of Acta Medica (formerly Hacettepe Medical Journal) Co-Editor of NEUROANATOMY, Assistant Editor of Journal of Plastination, International Advisory Board Member of Revista Argentina de Anatomía Online. I am a member of the American Association of Clinical Anatomists, International Society for Plastination and Turkish Society of Anatomy and Clinical Anatomy. In June 2014, I've been elected as the General Secretary of the International Society for Plastination. I am interested in plastination, anatomical variations, cross-sectional & clinical anatomy, three-dimensional reconstruction and digital photogrammetry. I speak English and French fluently. I am interested in Turkish music and literature, playing some traditional Turkish musical instruments. I am married with Derya Erdogmus Tunali, having a son in 2009.
